When we departed Cagliari, Italy, in October, we weren’t sure what would happen to our winter training plans. We had a lot to dig into after our Worlds performance. The thing about pursuing the Olympics is that the list of things to improve never gets shorter, the bullet points just get more specific.

We finished the biggest event of our 2025 calendar, the Nacra 17 World Championship, in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy in October.

The Canadian team, Maddie Gillis and Galen Richardson, put together an intense camp to kick off our summer of domestic training. With enthusiastic support from Sail Nova Scotia and Sail Canada, they were greenlighted to invite us up to Halifax

By the week of the European Championship, all signs of wild conditions had disappeared. The race committee scheduled the races for the afternoon, betting on the southerly seabreeze.

If you’re going to sail in the winter in the United States, there’s only one place to be: Miami. The water is warm, the sun is out, and Biscayne Bay is flat.

We kicked off the LA28 quad with a trip to the Colorado Springs Olympic and Paralympic Training Center as part of a development camp with US Sailing. Over a long weekend, we participated in team building exercises with other Olympic sailing athletes and completed physical fitness testing to establish baseline performance metrics.

It’s official: We have teamed up again in pursuit of the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics! This time, we set our sights higher than before.
